Monday, rules are not my thing…

Cover of

I have a problem with rules.  They usually tell you what is not allowed.  I really don’t like being told I can’t do something.  When I am given a rule that is a “no, not, can’t” rule you can be pretty certain I will rebel.  When I was young I rebelled a lot!  Not so much now.  At least, not so much with actions but my attitude can be rebellious.  That is probably just as bad.

One of the things I did not like about school was that I had to go, no option, had to go, period.  I fought that one big time!  I also, didn’t like work schedules; gotta be there when the schedule says.  Didn’t fight that much because there was a reward every two weeks.  The job I have now is no problem. I pretty much make my schedule and as long as the work is done everybody is happy.

I know structure is important.  It’s just that I want to be able to move around in it and make it to my specifications.  Somehow I don’t think this works in the bigger scheme of things.  I guess if everybody made their own rules life would be kinda chaotic.  Unless, of course, we lived by my rules.  Now there’s a thought!  What do you think?

Today, I think it wouldn’t be that bad if we lived by my rules.  Since I am not fond of rules there wouldn’t be too many…

  1. Wonderful post Patricia. I don’t know how far we would all get along if we had no rules. I’m one who tends to live by the rules. I think it just makes me feel a little more secure knowing that there are rules that most will and do follow. Though I can see the excitement of not following the rules and how much fun that could be.

Maybe it’s a good thing you have a job that doesn’t require much rule following 🙂

    1. The best thing about my job with few rules is that the few rules thing makes me happy and I (pretty much) like going to work.

Not following the rules is usually fun but it can backfire. When that happens you have to put on your big girl panties and deal with it. That is not always fun.

  2. Great post, Patricia. There is safety and peace in living by God’s rules.

Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus said: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

There is always understanding and forgiveness from God for those having put their faith in His Son. We all, by our human nature, tend to rebel against authority, but it doesn’t serve us well. Jesus loves us. Blessings to you, Patricia…
