Friday, laundry can be a reason…

Today I celebrate laundry.

Okay that may seem weird but I happen to like doing laundry.
First off I like the fact I have nice things to launder. I mean really think about it.

Then there is something about the smell of the clothes and linens Β
coming out of the washer and going into the dryer.

But the best part is taking the laundry out of the dryer,
all warm and sweet-smelling,

dryerand folding it neat and tidy.

Doing the laundry is not a difficult task and I find it relaxing.
Of course, the way of doing laundry has improved over the years.

Today, I think I would not like laundry if I had to put it in a tub
and actually had to work to get it done.

  1. I adore doing the laundry but I don’t like putting it away so much,it seems to take forever! I love to see my washing dancing on the line as it drys and I love the smell of clean washing. I have also noticed that I feel much more in control in general when my wash basket is low and when the basket is out of control and taller than me then Im usually stressed out in general.

    1. Do you always hang your laundry to dry. That is a bit of work but it does make the drawers and closets smell sweet. I think any time things are messy we get stressed…at least I do.

  2. I too love the smell of fresh, clean clothes. Reminds me of being little. My mother was the supreme laundress. I voted again, just so you know πŸ™‚

    1. Gotta have fresh smelling clothes and linens. Makes the powders and lotions and perfumes we use better when they aren’t being used to hide bad odors.

      Thanks for voting!

  3. Imagine having to bang your nice clothing on rocks and rinse them off in a cold river! I don’t know why, but I find doing laundry a pain in the butt, and I NEED to do some loads this weekend! Great pics. πŸ™‚

    1. Going to the river to do the wash…or take a bath is not my idea of clean. I am glad I was born in the era I was and not a long long time ago.

  4. I love all your photographs with this post. I don’t mind doing laundry either and nothing beats clean clothes and linens.

    Have a fabulous day. πŸ™‚

  5. I love doing laundry also, especially since I don’t have to toil like my mother had to and my cat likes to help too. If I wasn’t so lazy, I especially love washing hung outside–bedding, for instance–it’s heaven to sleep on; so fresh.

    1. Yeah, laundry is no longer really hard work. I don’t think I am interested in hanging anything outside. I had to do that for a while when I lived in an apartment. Can’t say I liked it…fresh smell or no.

  6. I loved this post, all so very true! We never stop to think how blessed we are to have nice things to wash and wear… adding that to my blessings list for tomorrow, thank you! I too love the process and the finished fresh clothing and linens. Then I remember my mother who spent all day Monday washing and all day Tuesday ironing, and sometimes more, every week of her life as we grew up. Whew! And they said being a housewife was easy! Our furkids are wonderful laundry buddies.. they love a basket of dirty clothes, and they love a basket of clean ones even more. Stormy, God rest his little soul, used to carry socks around in his mouth, meowing pitifully for whoever was missing from the house at the moment and belonged to the socks! He also loved to rearrange sorted laundry piles at night! πŸ™‚

    1. How sweet that Stormy carried around the sock of the people he was missing. Sorting the laundry piles maybe not so sweet but cute all the same…so cat! So true that in the past laundry was more of a chore than it is now.

  7. The cats sure know how to help out during laundry time. Luck is out of the question this week, laundry has been busy all week. I guess, I am not laundry today either.

    1. Cats do like laundry…I think it is the basket with soft stuff in it. It is a bother when the laundry room is busy. I am glad that the laundry room here is rarely busy during the early afternoons so I can get things done without a wait for machines. But I sure wish it didn’t take so many quarters!
