Friday, to the dentist I went…

I went to the dentist this week.
I really like my dentist but I really don’t like going to the dentist.
I think it goes back to when I was a kid and dentistry wasn’t pleasant.
These days it isn’t bad even when you must have something done other than a cleaning and check-up.

Anyway, I went and had my teeth cleaned and checked…first time in a few years.
When I had insurance I went to the dentist when I didn’t have insurance I didn’t
now I have insurance again and I went.

teeth

I have nice shiny clean teeth now.

And a cavity.
So I will be going back to see the dentist.
Bummer.

brush

I did get a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.
But I didn’t get a gold star sticker.

Today, I think I will celebrate having a great dentist… and I have dental insurance again.

  1. I hate going to the dentist too, but I actually really like my dentist. Funny thing…
Stopping by from VikLit’s hop. I hope you keep celebrating with us!

  2. I went two weeks ago for a cleaning and felt very virtuous when I came out. The little hygienist was about 12 and scraped and polished as if her life depended on it. I too got a toothbrush and floss to take home. Have dental insurance for a little while anyway. A very happy thing. Love the two pictures.

    1. The hygienist I saw was not little but very young. .my dentist and cardiologist could be my sons…and the dermatologist my daughter…my internist is 6 months younger than me and reminds me, with a laugh, every time I see him. At least the young ones are are cute…and polite never mentioning age.

  3. It does help to have a dentist you like. I’m happy insurance has made its way back into your life, so hopefully cavities will stay away. Dentists sure do have a way of encouraging you to keep up with oral hygiene. 🙂

    1. Yes, it does help to have a dentist you like! If he wasn’t messing around in my mouth I would be relaxed and enjoying his company.

  4. Yay for dental insurance. I had it when I worked but don’t have it now. I am fortunate to have a medical savings account that I can use for dentistry. Otherwise, eyow! I broke a veneer and it was $900! Yikes! Mostly I just get cleaned though.

    1. Yeah dental insurance is a wonderful thing to have…even though it doesn’t cover all that much. I have paid for the first year of college for both of my dentist’s kids.

  5. Your illustrations add so much fun to your post. I hate going to the dentist, too. I need to get up the courage to go one of these days. Your post has cheered me onward. Blessings to you, Patricia…

    1. I am pretty good at encouraging others…so make the appointment. The actual appointment is rarely, if ever, as bad as the anticipation.

  6. Perfect pictures to make us smile at a subject that tends to make us all wince. My childhood dental experiences were akin to a visit to the torture chamber. Today, much like you, it depends on whether insurance is available, it’s an expensive proposition even with it, but a necessary evil. It’s true though that dentistry has come a long way to be gentler and not quite so intimidating… kind of! Good for you for making yourself get it done!

  7. Give me a moment. I can’t click on my keyboard ’cause I’m laughing so hard. The two ‘models’ in your post are too much for me.
I REALLY hated going to the dentist when I was young and don’t mind as much now, but still, there’s something about going that…well, you know, you said the same thing yourself. Hee-hee.

    1. I think what I dislike the most is that once he starts doing his thing I am stuck…I can’t just say, “well that’s enough for today I’ll come back another time to finish.” Maybe I have dentaustrophobia…
