Tuesday, I used both early and open…

I was planning on getting up early to get stuff done so I could play on the computer.

But ….well you know how it goes.

When I finally rolled out of bed and did important stuff like feed Teddy,
read the paper and do the puzzles, and think about a plan for today it was really too late to start anything.
So I thought I would just peek at my email.  When I did peek I saw the bank statement was ready so I
decided to go ahead and reconcile it…that it takes a while to do this is a mystery seeing as I have
not a lot of money.  There’s enough but not a lot.

With that done it was time to bake a cake.    Then it was time for supper.
After supper it was time to give loves to Teddy.

Then I went to get the snail-mail.
I don’t get tons of mail anymore…bills are now ebills and catalogs are rare and letters even more rare.
There was, among some advertising, an envelope from my (last year) health insurance company.

Imagine my surprise when I opened it and there was a check made out to me!

Seems the affordable health care act worked in my favor.
The insurance company didn’t use all the money they collected like they should have
and refunded the excess dollars to policy holders.
I am not going to go on a cruise, or even across the river, with my refund
but it was a wonderful surprise all the same.

Today, I think I like this kind of surprise.

    1. I am not overly fond of surprises…I think I have control issues. But this was a nice one for sure! Hope your next surprise makes you smile.

  1. I loved finding this post this morning Patricia, it is clever, bright and interesting! Your life sounds much like mine. You did a great job of using both prompts, YAY for rebates! My husband got one too and was equally delighted. Finding good surprises in the mail is wonderful! I hope you spend it for something fun, though I’m sure Teddy thinks a new cat toy should be considered. 🙂 Thank you for joining us at TST, I really appreciate you and enjoy your posts so much!

    1. Haven’t spent the money yet but I am going shopping soon. Thank you the kind words you always have for my attempts at writing. You are definitely an encourager!

    1. Oh, you know it, Abelle. I am not paying a bill with it I am going shopping! Of course, Teddy will get something, too.

  2. Congrats on the check, but I wish healthcare companies would use the refunds to lower everyone’s premiums to reasonable levels. Well, another issues post. Now just doing the creative stuff for the summer.

    1. It’s hard to pay for insurance of any kind but it is one of those must haves just in case something happens. It is an “issue” and one with lots of opinions but seemingly no resolution.

    1. Believe me the refund is not enough to get far…but enough for some fun. I am healthy but the refund comes from the fact that the company collected more money than they should and had to refund a percentage.

  3. If I have nothing on my calendar and want to get OUT to run chores, somehow I can’t manage to get out the door until noon. I get up at 7:00 a.m. Am I a slow poke? Ha-ha.

I know what you mean. Getting up means reading the paper, having breakfast, not rushing, cleaning up, getting dressed, getting presentable, brushing teeth, putting on ….yada yada yada…

    1. The days I go to work are no problem…on my days off it seems I can’t get in gear. I probably should always work part-time and never fully retire.

  4. Sounds like a relaxing day. With a bonus check on top of it. Yay!

We got a letter from our health insurance company telling us about the new practice of return of excess premiums, etc.

It concluded by saying that our refund this year would be . . . $0.00! Thanks for nothing.

    1. I think the 0 dollars shows that your insurance company’s rates and practices are in line and they are using the money wisely. This will be the last time I get any health insurance monies back…now on Medicare and don’t think they have extra money…at least that’s what we are being told over and over again.

  5. always nice to get some money back…sound like your plans are like a lot of mine but hey, we have plenty of time and there is always tomorrow

    1. It is nice to get money back…especially when you don’t expect it. I don’t know how much time I have and do know there won’t always be a tomorrow but it doesn’t worry me a bit. I just take it as it comes one day at a time.
