The city where I live…

This week’s prompt for
52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

The City You Live In

This is the city where I live.
It is a small city that thinks it is a big city.
It has the usual city problems but overall it is a good place to live.

I have had good and bad times here…mostly good.
When I moved here I had family here but they are gone now.
There are people who have welcomed me into their lives.
They are wonderful friends, some have become family.

I am grateful for the people who have become friends and family.
They have made this city a good place for me to live.

When I moved here I thought I would stay
a couple of years then move back home.
I have lived here 36 years.
So, I guess this is home now.

  1. “Anywhere I hang my hat is home.” I’ve heard that somewhere, but it’s not true. I’ve moved from city to city and state to state, and it takes more than a place to hang a hat to make a home. For me home is where I live with the people that matter. Husband. Family. Friends. I enjoyed your piece, The City You Live in. Blessings to you…

      1. I believe we do all feel that way. I like to think home is where we ARE, although you still have ties to where we grew up. It’s also the time we grew up that makes that home special. What do you think, Patricia?

        1. I am not sure. I am happier where I am than I ever was where I grew up. But maybe that is because I didn’t really grow up until I was in my thirties and here.
