Breaking The Rules
This is my Christmas cactus breaking the rules blooming in the Spring.
I am all for any bit of rebellion that is beautiful and brings a smile.
It is not a total rebel though, it only has one flower;
a big beautiful flower that makes me smile.

Oh wow . .. how beautiful!!
It is a pretty bloom. Sad that it is the only one it needs some friends.
Papa Bear’s Christmas cactus is full of blooms right now. I think it is totally confused by our hot-cold-hot-cold weather, but like you, I find those lovely blooms so cheering! I love your white one, I need to find like that to give to Papa Bear!
This is the first time it has had a spring flower for me, but the friend who gave it to me said it usually bloomed at Easter for her. If you were closer I would give you a cutting. I just potted two pieces that were broken off the plant. They were in water for about 3 months and now have a pretty good root system going so they should do fine.
That’s so funny that your cactus isn’t a total rebel since it was only brave enough to push out one blossom. I think it’s the opposite. I think it’s that blossom that’s the rebel, forcing its way out despite the cactus’s strong objections. That’s one tough and determined little bloom!
You are very perceptive, Lexa. I think you are right…what a brave little flower.
Such a gorgeous plant!! Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you. And the weekend has been a delight.
What a beautiful rule breaker 🙂 Thank you, Patricia!
Thank you, Paula.
