Talents and gifts…

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge
week 14 prompt
A Talent You Have

A talent I have is doing needlework.
I can sew, embroider, cross-stitch and crewel, knit, and crochet.
I learned to do all these as a child.
I learned to sew in school home-ec classes.
The rest I was taught by my grammas.

My favorite is crochet.
I enjoy crocheting, it is relaxing and meditative.
Whenever I make a gift I pray as I crochet
for the person who will receive it.

I am grateful for my grammas and all they taught me.
Crocheting being just a small part of the knowledge they shared.

  1. I love needlework too! I can do all of these, but my crewel skills are minimal. My grandma taught me how to sew doll clothes on an old Singer treadle machine, and my mom taught me how to embroider dishtowels. I taught myself to knit, crochet, and do counted cross-stitch. I love cross-stitch most, but it is very hard on old eyes and fingers! :-). I would love to see more of your work!

    1. Cross stitch is hard for me these days. Very hard on older eyes. The first sewing machine I used was a Singer treadle that was my grammas. I wonder if girls learn these crafts now. With the digital world handmade things seem rare.

    1. Wonderful. Everyone should have something that takes them away from the mundane everyday tasks to deeper …or higher places.
