Today on my walk there wasn’t any sun but it was still wonderful.
Today was a day of cool misty fog.
I love walking in the fog.
As is my habit while walking I was letting my mind wander.
Once again it lit upon the In Other Words prompt,
An exaggeration is a truth that has lost its temper.
Kahlil Gibran
It’s a lovely quote but I don’t agree.
I think an exaggeration is a truth that has lost its way
and stumbled into the world of lies.
Maybe exaggeration isn’t an all out lie
but it isn’t an all out truth either.
I do my share of exaggerating and fudging the truth to be sure
so I know of what I write.
I try hard to stick to just the facts as boring as they may be.
Yet, there are those times that boring is…well boring
and I perhaps embellish the telling a bit.
Bet you do too.
If you say you never do then I am pretty sure you are …
exaggerating.

It is no exaggeration when I say that I had a post in mind for this but didn’t get it done in time. π¦ It is also not an exaggeration to say that I sometimes manage my time poorly. I love what you wrote here and I agree, we all tend to embellish a bit, it makes life more interesting. Where exaggeration becomes a problem is when we get into that “You always…” or “You never…” mentality, because most often that’s not really true and we are judging people unfairly. In fact most of the time when we are pointing fingers we are doing so unfairly. π
I know all about having what I plan to happen just not happen. Blogging has been sort of pushed back a bit for me. I hope to get back on track soon…but who knows.
lovely photo.. has a great atmosphere
It is lovely but not mine. It’s from pixabay.
I think exaggerations can be used for good or evil. I love the quote, and I like your inspired words, too.
I do not exaggerate when I say you have written a fantastic poem to answer the prompt.
Thank you for linking to Tuesday Chatter. I like your take on the quote, Patricia. I don’t think a little embellishment is a bad thing.
Depends what you are embellishing and how/why. For the most part I am fine with it…like when I am told I am beautiful. Does happen often anymore π
