Spring is here…

Of course, I took a walk today.  It was gorgeous!  I took the long way around to the library and got to thinking how beautiful the earth is.  Really it is a wonder.  There are ugly places and parts but they seem to be the consequences of people’s greed, bad behavior, and thoughtlessness.  It’s sad but we can be inconsiderate and unkind not only to each other but to animals and this planet we call home.  Why is that?  Is it because we are always in a hurry or are we simply ignorant of the beauty around us?

Okay, that is the end of a rant I didn’t see coming.
The daffodils are in front of the building where I live.  We, not me but other peeps who live here, are in the process of beautifying the landscape.  It has been years since any changes or improvements have been done.  The building is forty-some years old and is in need of tender loving care.  The daffodils are new this year and make me smile when I pass them on my way in or out.

They seem to shout “Spring is here!”

  1. Well summer is on the wane and autumn, with her blustery winds is making herself known in our corner of this wonderful world. we’ve enjoyed a special summer and now it’s your turn. I can let summer go to you with blessings.

  2. Nothing says Spring like fresh blooming flowers! I think it’s impossible not to smile at such loveliness! I’m with you in thinking that the world is indeed a beautiful place, from the tiniest plants and creatures to the majesty of mountains and oceans. I think we go wrong because we forget to take it all in and be grateful for what we have in the world, our relationships, and our animals too. We need to slow down and “smell the flowers” for a bit each day, find the good things that are all around us. I love your walks, they are so good for the soul! 🙂

    1. My walks are certainly good for my soul. They help me see something other than “me”. Too often my world is too small and I need to be reminded it’s not all about me.

  3. The daffodils are beautiful. They sparkle in the spring sunshine, and yellow brightens any landscape. Your comments on the beauty of the earth resonate in my heart. The rant must be aired by someone. The earth belongs to us all. Blessings to you, Patricia…

    1. After the gray and brown of late winter the bright yellow daffodils are a joy to see. The earth was created for us and we are charged with taking care of it. We tend to forget that. 😃

  4. I agree with your rant and you are not alone in your feelings. Beautiful daffodils and thank you for linking to Tuesday Chatter.

  5. Ugly bits may “spring” from being socialized to focus on a spirit of “competition” (more is better) rather than from the spirit of cooperation (less is more).

    Beautiful daffodils.

  6. Screaming daffy I must say. They are such a delight to see after the snow drops. What a great way to beautify the area. What are you planting?

    1. I am not sure what will be on my balcony this year. Something easy and heat tolerant and colorful. As to the landscaping plans I gave no idea what the plans are. That is way more work than I want to be part of.

  7. I believe the hear the daffodils shout. We had tons of snow and in the past two days it has melted. It was 15C today and and though I didn’t see daffodils (except yours here 🙂 ), I smelled spring.
