Traveling…

“Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling.”
Margaret Lee Runbeck

I agree with this. I think if you are not happy where you are chances are you won’t be happy when you get to where you’re going. And if you are not happy when you get to where you’re going chances are you will move on again looking for happiness.

I’m not saying you should stay where ever you are in life. Life is not stagnant, it is ever changing and when we embrace change we are living life not just enduring it. For many of us, change is difficult and we avoid it. I cannot say that I have reached the point where I embrace change but I have learned that avoiding change doesn’t keep it from happening it just makes life a struggle.

I have traveled life for quite awhile and have been to a few stations along the way. Some stations were hard to leave and others couldn’t be left fast enough and a couple I got stuck in and needed help getting out. The more of life I travel the more I understand happiness and the travels become happier and the stations more of a resting place.  Change?  Still difficult but it’s okay.  I don’t let it get in the way. I just keep moving on one step at a time.

  1. That’s exactly it, we may not always love change, and we may not always be happy with things, but if we keep moving forward things will work out ok. Happiness is a matter of the heart, it is not something or someplace, it is inside of us. In reading your posts each week, I can see that you’ve reached the place in life where you are content, and that is the very best. I have every confidence that you are strong enough to bend when the wind blows and will come through the storms of life ok! xoxo

    1. I am content, Josie. Change is sometimes difficult for me but it doesn’t get me all upset and crazy anymore. Well, maybe a little upset and crazy but it’s manageable and I don’t hide under the covers trying to avoid it. Been awhile since there has been a major storm just some squalls now and then. They keep me in shape for any hurricanes that should show up. (((Josie)))

  2. Love the kitten pic! I’m doing the same as you — going forward, one step at a time. Have a lovely weekend!

  3. Indeed. No use fighting change because you won’t win. The 90s were the biggest change I remember in my life. What a struggle, till I realized I might as well embrace it. Life became much easier, then. ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. You are a wise woman, Tess. For me, the new century has been a challenge. So many changes! I have accepted them if not embraced them. I have found it takes some strength and courage to live a good life. As a friend’s mother often said, “Life is good if you don’t weaken.”
