Tuesday Chatter
is going to be a twofer today.
I am going to chat about the
In Other Words
prompt
“Books may well be the only true magic.”
Alice Hoffman
I don’t think all books are magic but most of them are for me. I have loved reading since I was a child. We got a television when I was about five but there were a couple of years when I was in elementary school when we didn’t have one. So, it was reading for my entertainment and it is still my favorite way to escape.
I read mostly fiction. I get enough real life in real life. I do read faith-based books, fiction, and nonfiction, and occasionally a memoir or biography. But fiction is my favorite. When I was younger I liked romance novels but not so much anymore. Now I like mysteries and thrillers and some post-apocalyptic sci-fi. It’s okay if there is some romance thrown in and there usually is but I don’t care for it to be the main attraction of the story.
I don’t buy books these days. I am into a simplify and declutter phase of life and don’t need to own books. The library has more books than I could ever read. I never buy e-books I just download free ones. I prefer “real” books and only read the e-books when I haven’t gotten to the library. I never listen to audio books. I have tried but I always fall asleep. I have never fallen asleep reading! Now we have a small library here where I live. It’s been my pet project along with the fitness center. I spend a lot more time in the library than the fitness center! Once the fitness center was up and ready for use I sort of lost interest but I never lost interest in the library. 😉

You are a wonderful person. I wish we lived nearby. I would love to sit and chat. Hugs.
It would be wonderful to be close enough to visit face to face. However,if we were to visit you would find I am just ordinary.
That’s so nice you have a library where you live. Books at your fingertips. I downloaded a few books on my Kindle app, all from fellow bloggers. Thank you for linking to Tuesday Chatter.
It is a great little room. People are always leaving books to share. Often they are new best sellers!
I love that you’ve created a library for the people where you live! I’ve always believed that books are something to be savored and then passed on so someone else can enjoy them. I am not one to collect shelves or boxes or rooms full of books. I don’t really enjoy re-reading something I’ve read once. Well, except for the Good Book! I’ve become an e-reader but only for the convenience and because it’s easier on my hands than holding a book and turning pages (often while wrangling cats who are trying to join in). I still love the feel and smell of a real book, and I know they will always hold a special place in my heart. I love biographies best, but I enjoy good fiction too!
I rarely read a book more than once but sometimes I forget I have read something until I am half way through it again. The library downstairs was here for a long time but a mess. I got some bookcases donated and cleaned and organized things. It is a pleasant place now with books and magazines. There’s even a sofa! People have been leaving books and I had to find another bookcase. It is wonderful knowing people are enjoying the room.
