Write a story or poem of 5 Lines or Less
using the word vain
Here she is ready to strut her stuff across that platform, get her reward, and move on to the next chapter of her life. She worked so hard to get to this place. She is proud of what she has accomplished though some people think she is showing off and that she thinks she is better than they are. She knows she isn’t better than those people but she also knows she wants to have a better life than they have. Her hard work and determination will not be in vain.

Grit and determination bring rewards to the faithful.
Very true.
Well done with this prompt. That is what makes it a challenge for me: to use the word prompt in a different way, with a twist or different direction. Thanks for this story. I liked it.
Glad you liked it. You would think since I choose the words I would find it easier than most to write something. But it took me awhile to think of something for this word. 🙂

Being vain is sometimes a cover up for being insecure or shy. We must always be considerate if we judge.
The funny thing is, I’ve been accused of being vain or stuck up several times in my life. I’m quite the opposite, actually. I’m very shy and I don’t think I’m pretty at all.
Sometimes people see what they want to see or what they think they see and not the truth.
This was a wonderful surprising twist on a story about someone who is thought to be vain. It reminds me how easy it is to misjudge people’s nature and their intentions. Quiet can be misconstrued as conceit and self-confidence can be read as vanity. Judging others is always a dangerous walk, so often we are wrong and our pronouncements are unfair. I think this lovely lady will go far in life, she knows what she wants and is determined not to be held back by the shadow of popular opinion!
Thanks, Josie. I am learning just how judgmental I can be. Something I am not proud of and am working to change.
