I am joining
Ten Things of Thankful
this week.
Here is my list
- The cleaning and waterproofing restoration work on the building where I live is complete. Very much needed and long overdue.
- The installation of the new balcony railings will begin the end of this month. The building will look so much better and will improve property value.
- I made the best vegetarian chili ever. I never use a recipe and it is always good but this time it was better than good.
- I read a really good book by Jodi Picoult, Small Great Things. I always like her books but this one made me think about my feelings and beliefs regarding race more deeply and thoughtfully.
- A friend I haven’t seen in awhile got in touch and we made plans to meet for lunch.
- I still have petunias blooming. Even with some cold weather, they are filled with buds and blooms. Beautiful surprise.
- I went to the library and it was packed. Wonderful to see so many people in one of my favorite places.
- A friend wrote me the sweetest note. It came so unexpectedly, it made me get all teary-eyed and everything.
- I clicked on a YouTube link and watched a hilarious video of a dog fetching things his master told him to get. The dog was so excited and got everything right. It made me laugh so hard I had to watch it several times.
- I have peace in my life. Wasn’t always that way so I can appreciate it with great thankfulness.
There you have it, my Ten Things of Thankful.

I love the library. The library brings me peace. Glad you have found some peace too. Priceless.
Peace is priceless and I am blessed to have it in my life. The library is a favorite place for me, too.
This is a wonderful list, Patricia. Good to hear you have peace in your life. Having it makes a big difference in a life. ❤
It does make a difference when there is peace. I know what life is like without it so I value it greatly.
A.m.e.n. 🙂
Perfect! I am grateful to be healthy. There is a lot of good stuff that happens but we mostly focus on the bad stuff.
We do tend to focus on the bad. Why is that? Such a waste of energy!
I know but we do it. Stupid.
I was so delighted to see that you’ve linked up with us for TToT! I know that gratitude is your way of life! Such a happy list of good things, this made me smile. It feels nice to have your building updated, and then to find petunias still blooming, wow! I’d love to see the dog video, dogs work so hard to please their people, cats are more the opposite, they like to be pleased! 😉 I have been in love with libraries since I was old enough to choose a picture book from the bottom shelf. They have so many wonderful options now, and I’m praying that funding for public libraries won’t be cut! Jodi Picoult’s books are always good reads. Friends who send personal notes are awesome, it can be such a day brightener; I need to take more time to do that! Isn’t a peaceful heart a wonderful blessing? There were times I thought it was an impossibility, that life would always be chaotic. I know where that peace comes from now, and even with the week’s ups and downs I am usually able to stay on an even keel. Blessings to you in the week ahead! ❤
I thought I saved the dog video but apparently, I did not. If I find it I will send you a link. I know what you mean about a chaotic life but it seems when my life was most chaotic it was because my heart was a wild mess. Once that got all straightened out there wasn’t room for chaos. Though, I have to admit there are still the occasional disturbances.
goodness, goodness, it’s always good to be grateful.
Yes, ma am!
You are welcome.
Peace is the best thing I see in the list, even before the great vegetarian chili 🙂
It is a good year for my family so far this year. Last year and before that were so rocky with my teens especially. Good for you for a peaceful week.

Peace is a blessing for sure. And teens grow up…that’s a blessing, too.
That is a beautiful list, Patricia.
What a beautiful list!
Thank you.
I would love to know what you put in that vegetarian chili. My church is having a chili cook-off later this month and I’m looking for a good vegetarian chili recipe. 🙂
Ok here it is, 1 can of Bush’s Black Beans with mild chili sauce, 1 can of Pinto Beans, rinsed, 1 can of Dark Red Kidney Beans, rinsed, 1 can of Diced Tomatoes, some water. Green onions and celery, chopped. Mrs. Dash’s Original Blend Seasoning, Sauer’s Crushed Red Pepper and 1 or 2 tablespoons of Sauer’s Chili Seasoning (this comes in a packet). Dump it all in a pot, bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer about 30 minutes. Sorry, I don’t have amounts for all the ingredients…I just sort of add stuff until I think it looks about right. I like it spicey with a dollop of sour cream…some peeps like cheddar cheese.
If you try it let me know how you like it. Might take a couple of tries to get it just right.
