The Way I See It
Friends to me come in categories.
There are friends who are acquaintances;
people you know and occasionally see but really don’t know well.
I have lots of these friends.
There are friends who are work pals,
you rarely if ever see them outside of the workplace.
I have had some of these friends and it made working nicer.
Some friends are those who share an interest,
you like to go to concerts or shows, have the same hobby or favorite past time.
I have a few of these friends and always enjoy our time together.
Some people are friends during a season or time of life,
once the season or time is over they drift away.
Over the years I have had several of these friends and treasure the memories.
Then there are friends who are family,
sometimes they are closer than your family.
These friends are there for you whenever you need them
for whatever reason you need them.
They listen and don’t judge, don’t offer advice unless asked,
and then tell you like it is and if it hurts they will cry with you.
They will tell you when you are wrong in what
you are thinking or doing and offer to help you get back on track.
They will laugh with you but never at you.
You can tell them your secrets and they will never tell anyone else.
If time, distance, or circumstances separate you
when you are together again it is like you were never apart.
They share their hearts and lives with you because they love you.
I have a couple of friends like this and I am blessed beyond measure.
The way I see it…you need all kinds of friends.

Friendly Fill-Ins, week 48
- I don’t understand why rap music is so popular. Maybe I don’t understand because I am not of the Rap generation.
2. My in-case-of-emergency person is two friends who are family to me.
3. There is so much violence and hatred in the world and I just don’t get it!
4. I would be lost without friends, books, and my catkids.

I really like your breakdown of different kinds of friends, it is such an all-encompassing word! I have a few of these in each category too, the ones I can trust with my heart, my fears, and my prayer needs… like you, they are the most precious to me! ❤
Oh, Josie, you made tears come to my eyes. Thank you for sharing your friendship so lovingly.
As the years go by I feel like I have less friends, not because of death or anything so finalizing, but mainly because of the distance of space and time. I’m sure if I were to see any of them again it would be a pleasant reconnection, but it wouldn’t be like it once was. My truest friends are the ones that know how to pick up the phone and call me now and then and there don’t seem to be many of those left.

Tossing It Out
I rarely use the phone to talk but I text a lot. I do think we are really not as connected as we were before the tech age came upon us. I sometimes wonder what would happen if all the gadgets disappeared.
Friends, books, and catkids are the best. Hope you had a great weekend!

Weekend was wonderful…and looking forward to Easter.
I really love the cat pics you choose to accompany your posts – they’re always purr-fect! I agree with you about the violence and hatred in the world. What is wrong with people? Everyone could have a happierlife if they could just be tolerant and compromise with others.
Compromise has become a dirty word. Most folks want no part of it. Sad. Glad you like the cats. Plan to join you for CTSM this week.
I love your thoughts on friends and also your fill-ins. Excellent! I always enjoy the way you see things, because I tend to agree. I don’t have family, so friends are special to me. It is extra nice to have a special friend, they are rare: the ones like family. Hugs!
I have family but haven’t seen them in a few years. There is the occasional email but a couple of my friends are more family now. It is good to have people you love and are loved by in life.
You worked that out great for the A to Z Challenge for F! I like your thoughts about friends.
I can’t listen to rap. #3 is so true and sometimes thinking about it all becomes overwhelming. I can relate to your #4. Cats, friends, and books make life good! Enjoyed the cat pictures this morning!
Sometimes when I think about #3 I just go to bed and hope for a better tomorrow. I can’t understand most of what the Rapper’s are saying and when I can it seems ugly to me. Glad you liked the cats.
