Ten Things of Thankful
- My new balcony railing! I knew I had a good view before but now I know that it is truly breath-taking. I feel like I am living in a treehouse. I know I have said this before but I am still amazed by it.
- I went to Subway and had a Black Forest ham sandwich. After six weeks of no meat just veggies and fish, it was wonderful to chow down on that sammich.
- The clerk at the drugstore who was so helpful. I had forgotten my glasses and he helped me find what I was looking for. He was very patient with a great sense of humor.
- Bought some flowers to fill in pots that have perennials in them. Verbena, Bocopa, and Cosmos. All so colorful.
- Painted the last of the flower pots…another check on the to-do list. Now just need to get some plants to put in them and my gardening will be done…for now.
- We had some sweet soft rain. The perfect kind of rain for gardens. It was beautiful as I watched it moving over the city to where I live.
- Got my fans out and cleaned them up. So far I haven’t had the A/C on but I know the day is coming and until it does the fans are great for keeping the apartment comfortable.
- Netflix is great. I can watch movies at home and pause them if I want or go back and watch a scene again. It’s not expensive and I see more movies than if I had to go to the theater to see them and probably see some I wouldn’t normally go see.
- My blood pressure is lower than it has been in several years. Wonder if the veggie diet during Lent had anything to do with it?
- Watching Teddy play with his new toy. It’s a mouse with treats in it. He has to bat it around for the treats to come out. He is so funny trying to get those treats!
So that’s it for this week.
Blessings all around!
I’ve been wanting to plant some verbena and was wondering what to plant with it. I’ll have to visit the nursery and check out your combination of plants. That is great that you can now enjoy your balcony railing and the wonderful view. Congratulations on being able to lower your blood pressure.
I think my verbena will do fine with its pot mates. In the past I put it with plants that needed too much water…verbena likes kinda dry soil.
I will be interested to see if the BP rises if you add meat back into your diet now.
Isn’t there something uplifting about getting your hands in the dirt and planting flowers or veggies–whatever brings you joy?!
I am not planning on adding much meat into my diet, though I will have it occasionally. Yes, digging in the dirt is a great way to shoo the blahs.
a new (and from the sounds of it a much less view-obstructing) railing sounds like a lot of fun. more than a lot of things, as a view is something that is always there and (often) always different, so anything that enhances the view is very good.
Agreed! I am loving my new vista.
Such a sweet list of thankfuls, Patricia! Jack looks like he’s got something to say this morning, maybe he wants a turn at Teddy’s new mouse toy. 🙂 I am loving hearing about your balcony getting all spruced up for Spring with the new railing, painted flower pots, and new flowers purchased to add in to the others. It sounds like such a pretty place of respite, to read or just enjoy the wonderful view you have of the city down below! I love watching rain come across the sky too, storms put on such wonderful shows!
Speaking of shows, Netflix is great! I love that they are so fast about exchanging movies, and so much less expensive than going to the theater, which we rarely do.
I can imagine how much you enjoyed that Black Forrest Ham sandwich, I bet it tasted wonderfully good after going six weeks without meat. I’m not sure I could do that, I enjoy meat too much. Though we eat less of it than we used to. How awesome to see a drop in your blood pressure too. I found that after I stopped working I no longer needed blood pressure medication, which didn’t surprise me at all. 🙂
I am thankful for the friendly, helpful clerk at the drugstore too, it’s refreshing to encounter people who are friendly and caring. I do find as I get older that I tend to be treated with a bit more patience and friendliness, and I like it, we should all try to be kind and helpful everyday to whoever we encounter. It’s such an easy thing to do. If I was a store manager it would be a critical hiring point.
We use floor fans and ceiling fans to help keep things cool too, it definitely cuts back on the need for air-conditioning and is more comfortable until it gets really hot here, which is coming all too soon!
Teddy’s toy with treats sounds like great fun, and good exercise too! Maybe someone needs to put our human treats in something that requires activity to access them! LOL
Have a wonderful week, thank you for sharing with us at TToT! Love you much!
It seems you are enjoying life. I’m sure that’s heaven sent.
Where ever this season of life is coming from it is heavenly.
Flower pots are always a joy in spring and I am happy you had some rain. Yay for Teddy enjoying his new toy. I think retirement may have something to do with your blood pressure, too, but no doubt a diet of veggies might have been a factor… No matter what, it sure is a good thing to be thankful about!
I do love my pots of posies! Good health is something I don’t take for granted it can disappear in a moment.
Retirement might have something to do with that blood pressure. You sound like you are enjoying life right now. I do love to begin planting and enjoying the garden – a sanctuary of calmness and beauty. Have a good week.
I am enjoying these first days of retirement. I wonder if they will become boring? I got some more plants today. I do like my little balcony garden where I can sit and just be…
This is a wonderful list! If we focus on the blessings, it becomes a way of life to be thankful. Thanks for sharing your blessings and for being one to others. Hugs.
Thanks, Annie. Life is happier when we look at our blessings rather than the aggravations and pitfalls.
