Friendly Fill-Ins, week 53

cat-650481_6401. My favorite cereal is Cheerios, Rice Checks, Kellogs Corn Flakes, Quaker Oatmeal with maple and brown sugar. I couldn’t pick just one.

cat-55509_6402.My prom never happened. I left school before my junior year and so, no prom for me.

red-tomcat-1615805_6403. The somewhat bothersome thing about never having married and not having kids is the stupid and usually rude questions strangers ask. I mean really, is it any of their business?

cat-2075273_6404. I cannot help wondering what it will be like to be living in the hereafter, but I guess I will find out one day. Hopefully in the distant future.

  1. I was told that the perfect answer for someone who asks something very snoopy/rude/inappropriate is to turn it around and say “Why in the world would you ask me something like that?” Friends know enough to be sensitive, and strangers don’t need to know. We all have our own stories and our own roles, why do people assume that everyone must follow the same plan? I am amazed at the number of people who ask my daughter why she doesn’t have any children, they have no idea how hurtful that issue is for her.

    1. I would tell them it’s none of their business but that seems kinda ugly, making me just like them. I don’t get it but some folks are clueless.

  2. No kids here either. I’ve been told I will regret it one day. So here I am 70 and the only time I regret it is when my computer dies. Life plays out the way it does and people shouldn’t judge others based on their own beliefs or circumstances. BTW proms are overrated.

    1. I think those that liked proms were the super popular kids the rest of us kind of got carried along in the hype. Life is what it is and my “status” as a never-have-been is fine with me.

  3. I like your answers. I especially like your #3. It is hurtful. What is just as bad is those who “know”, yet seem to inflict salt into wounds, rubbing the raw areas. They are truly callous. I have had that happen with a few people. It is easier to take the ones who do not know, though it is surely none of their business. Things happen for a reason, and there but by the Grace of God…yeah. HUGS, my friend. Enjoy your sweet furkids.

    1. There are just some people I don’t understand. You would think that being as old as I am those particular rude questions wouldn’t bother me. Once someone asked me if I was a widow because she never saw me with my husband. That was really weird!

    1. I love “befuddles”! The marriage/children questions make me many things but I am not nice enough to be befuddled. I like Cheerios as a little snack…learned that from a bunch of three-year-old kids.

  4. I like all of your cereal choices, including the oatmeal with syrup and brown sugar. I wonder what makes them ask questions/make comments in the first place. It isn’t like you’re wearing a sign that says, “Hey, I’m not married!” I wonder about the hereafter, too. I know Heaven is going to be a wonderful place, but I wish I knew all the details. 🙂

    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Many people who don’t know me ask if I am married or have children I guess as an ice-breaker kind of thing then it moves to the why not questions. As for details, it seems Jesus is more for giving general information. Maybe details would just be overwhelming.

  5. How about this? When someone asks you a stupid or rude question, look them straight in the eye and say, “People are crazy, ‘ceptn’ chickens, and they got feathers.” They will be so confused they won’t know what to think. Follow it up quickly with, “Don’t you agree?” Many will say yes because they will have no idea what else to do.

  6. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. Most people are very rude, for years I was bothered by people asking me why we don’t have children. Great cereal choices. And I hope your # 4 is a very, very long way off. Have a nice weekend!

    1. I wonder if people think I am rude when I give them a flip answer to their rude questions? Cereal is a favorite food of mine…I often have it for supper. As for #4…I am officially old, but not yet elderly ;), so I will take whatever time is left to me and make the best of it.
