Ten Things of Thankful
- I am blessed by the people around me. All I have to do is call or knock on a door and I am welcomed.
- I was feeling kind of down and a friend gave me a “talking to”. He said just what I needed to hear. I left feeling like I have it all together and can do anything.
- I am participating in The Kindness Challenge and last week was week one. When I wrote my reflection for the week on Self-Love it was cathartic. Sort of wrote itself. Hopefully, those who read it will be encouraged and see it for what it is, an honest assessment of self-love and living a life of discovery.
- A long time ago I learned that sometimes you know Who talks to me through my dreams and I think these dreams are part of a conversation He wants to have with me. I think this happens when I just don’t get the message through regular means. There have been such dreams lately. I see this as a gift but still, I wonder what’s up?
- I have the greatest dentist and hygienist. Saw them last week. The whole staff is wonderful. Of course, I got the talk about sodas and how bad they are for teeth…again. I am not going to stop drinking sodas. Guess I will have start saving my money for dental implants.
- It is the middle of May and I have not had my A/C on yet. So happy! I know the day is coming when it will be turned on and stay on until September. Very happy to have A/C but it is a love/hate thing.
- A young woman I know lost her job due to the place closing. She was very upset because she has a brain disorder caused by an illness she had years ago and finds it difficult to learn and remember things. Took her months to get a job when she moved here. Well, her boss from the closed place, got her job where he is now working. Hallelujah!
- I washed windows the other day. Not a big deal I only have two windows and a sliding glass door, but I put it off for quite awhile due to laziness. It is lovely looking out and seeing things as they are without streaks, dust, and nose/paw prints.
- Aren’t naps wonderful? Yeah, they are!
- Finding the world of blogging has been a blessing filled with surprises; to have a place to express my ditzy self and be accepted as I am is truly humbling, to read the blogs of some awesome folks, and form friendships with some of these folks is beyond imagining. Thanks,y’all!

I have to say that no.9 is my favourite. Naps are great! Although if I fall asleep on the sofa I tend to wake up all dopey and it takes me a while to get going again!
Yes, naps are great! I have to be careful that I don’t sleep more than 30-45 minutes…if I do I feel awful and that’s a waste of a good nap.
It is nice to know you are welcomed by the people around you.
Sometimes people are kinder to others than they are to themselves. It sounds like you have found a great blog challenge.
I have had some very special dreams too. Some have helped me be prepared for something that is going to be happening. Some have given me answers to something with which I have been struggling. Some have been confusing to me at the time, but became very clear over time. Others have helped me to be reassured about something I hope will someday happen. Some have helped me have a better understanding of something I have experienced in my life.
My dentist has some charts in the waiting room that list different sodas, energy drinks, coffees, teas, etc. and what percentage of harm they do to the teeth. It is very informative. I was never much of a soda drinker, and I don’t drink coffee. I sometimes drink non-decaffinated herbal tea, but not often.
I am glad the young woman was able to get another job. It sounds like she has a compassionate former boss.
The world just looks brighter with clean windows. It isn’t my favorited task to do either.
Dreams are more than brain relaxing and reviving they are often necessary to learn about and understand life. I rarely drank coffee until lately. In trying to cut back on the sodas I now have a cup of coffee in the afternoon for a boost of energy.
Hi, Patricia. I’m glad you had a good week and finally finishing a task that you have been putting off feels great, whether it be windows or baseboards (I need to do that) or writing your novel. I briefly clicked on our link. I’m going back to read more fully. Have a good week.
Baseboards? Bummer, I just looked at mine. I will put it on my to-do list.
‘cellent oT this week! (liked the line about “…Guess I will have start saving my money for dental implants.“)
I agree about way-out-of-proportion pleasure of attaining clean windows… it’s the ‘before and after’ part that knocks me out.
totally identify with you on how amazing this virtual is/can be….
have a good week
Thanks, Clark. Do you know how much dental implants cost? Way too much! If I live to be eighty or ninety I will be gumming it. Good thing I don’t have to chew on a Coke.
I am so far behind with blogging this week, I’m sorry for taking this long to get here! I love your thankfuls list, all kinds blessings! I love that you live in a building with friendly neighbors that are also good company. So many seniors are lonely, and you never need to be. The friend you spoke with sounds like he shared just the message God knew you needed to hear. God bless friends!
I haven’t read your post about self-kindness but I am eager to do that, it is something I’ve really had to work on over the years too. It is sometimes easier to be kinder to others than we are to ourselves.
I agree that God sometimes talks to us through dreams, telling and showing us things He needs us to know. Guidance is available to us in so many ways if we are paying attention! 🙂
You are so blessed to have a nice dentist and hygienist, dental work is not high on my favorite things to do! We all have a few indulgences that we are not willing to give up at this stage of life, it’s kind of a trade of.
Wow, you are blessed to have such mild weather so far. It really hasn’t been too bad here, but we are needing AC in the daytime as temps climb into the 90’s. Before long it will be triple digits so I am thankful for what we have now, and for averaged billing on our electricity… no big summer spikes!
How very kind of the boss who found a spot for his former employee at his new place, that’s the kind of caring that we’d like to hear more about in the news!
Window washing? Is that something we are supposed to do? :-)) That doesn’t make it to the top of my to-do list very often, but they are needing it now. You are right that it’s so nice to look through sparkling clean ones though!
Naps are heavenly! I like to stay up at night, and sometimes that leaves me a little weary after lunch, a short nap makes all the difference! It’s a luxury we couldn’t indulge in when working, and I am grateful for that flexibility now.
I would count blogging as one of the best blessings in my life too. It has introduced me to the most wonderful bunch of people, including You, My Friend! ❤ Thank you for sharing this great TToT list, reading it just made me feel good about life! XOXO
I am a night owl and naps happen quite often. The A/C went on for a couple of hours today. Too humid! As far as being behind…I have like 250 posts I haven’t read and the number grows every day. It seems the more time I have the less there is. Does that make any sense?
Yes it certainly does make sense to me! It would seem that since I am no longer working outside of home, I should have a bunch more time to stay caught up on blogs and blogging, so either I am poor at budgeting my time (partly true) or there is just that much more I want to write, read and comment on (also true)! I am giving myself permission to just to the best I can with all of it and not feel guilty when I don’t get it all done.
I am still behind as you can tell by the timing of this reply. But I am working on getting caught up, sort of.
awazing post or TToT. 🙂 congrats on participating in the kindness challenge . its awesome that you have such a lovely weather, its full summer here . Happy to hear the young woman’s job. i put off cleaning things too and i can relate to sense of accomplishment. and yes, naps are really awesome. so glad to meet you , Patricia. Happy week !
Naps are one of my favorite things! I nap quite often. Thanks for visiting.
We can all use a good talking to now and again. Kindness is an excellent thing to focus on. I am waiting for a few hot days before I turn on my AC and hope that doesn’t happen for a few more weeks, if I can make it that long. I do love to have it to turn to though. A nice nap in the cool of my house is the best. Blogging is wonderful too.
My A/C went on today for awhile. It was too humid to use just the fan this afternoon. Bummer.
Mine too.
I relate to naps and windows. Naps happen once a day now. We dog-sat for a few hours on Sunday. One day soon I’m going to wash the sliding glass door at chihuahua and boxer levels.
Wow! I could identify here with #4. I said exactly that the other night. Bill played music, and afterwards we were all chatting. Someone brought up dreams, and I made that comment. They were surprised, saying they never thought of that. I think, perhaps that is when He knows He has our undivided attention. I am not surprised that you feel this way, my friend. You are pretty insightful. I hope your week is filled with blessings. HUGS.
This dream thing has been with me since the beginning, even before I put my faith in the Lord and started talking with Him. He knows what each one of needs and how to get our attention. Have a lovely week…and sweet dreams.
I’m thankful I found this blog. I enjoy starting my day by reading your reflections. They are helpful reminders–best to you!
Thank you for the lovely words of encouragement.
Good things happen to good people. Enjoy your lovely view! 🌻
Thanks! I have been spending a lot of time looking out and enjoying the trees and city skyline.
#3… I saw your post on Self-Love as a gift. Your mantra is filled with powerful words and encourages those of us who still struggle with being comfortable with our “self”… thank you.
I get such satisfaction when I grab the squeegee and the Windex and clean our two full view storm doors! It’s the little things… 🙂
I am happy to have A/C but I love those spring and fall days when the fronts blow through and I don’t have to listen to it run!
#10… Yes!
I don’t know anyone completely comfortable with “self”. We are all works in progress. Some folks are like tomato plants and grow quickly but most of us are oak trees and it takes us time to mature.
