Do you think you can have one without the other?
Which is more important to you?

We cannot control life. What happens TO us will not always make us happy. But, it does not have to define our existence. We are supposed to learn and keep going. Happiness is a path we take, not a destination. If we make happiness our mindset, our path, then we will ultimately find success in that. Hugs.
It is true that what happens outside of ourselves doesn’t have to determine who or what we are. It is our spirit/soul that is important and to be given precedence over the outer aspect of life.
I tell my daughter that success is getting up every day and getting on with life in a positive way, no matter what life throws at you. I don’t think getting what you want is a good measure of success, because I know a lot if people who got what they wanted, but it’s never enough, so they’re miserable….I guess I think success is accepting and dealing with what comes your way
I agree with what you said. Success in the world’s view often leads to an empty heart and in my mind that is worse than empty pockets. Hope your daughter listens to your words.
She is a teenager….not normally a group known to listening to anyone….they already know everything….😀
I remember those years. I was a rebel and rarely listened to my mother. When grew up (finally) I began to remember things that she said I understood what she was trying to tell me. I still think her life was a little dull, though.
Sometimes it’s hard to imagine your parents having any wisdom….but every now and then. And her life may have been dull….but you never know….still waters and all….
I think when she was young there was some spirit there but she got tired and settled for less than she wanted…or deserved. Maybe we all do that to some degree?
I think we all decide being content isn’t so bad….some more so than others.
