“The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread
and coming out with only a loaf of bread
are three billion to one.”
Erma Bombeck
I usually go to the store with a list and I always buy more than what is on the list. Sometimes it’s because I see something that I forgot to put on the list but most often I just buy extra stuff because it is on sale. I have an especially hard time ignoring “buy one get one” sales. I mean really, what better time to buy whether you need whatever it is or not? Chances are you will need it one day. Who doesn’t need chocolate more often than not?
Then there are the times I go shopping with my list but forget my glasses which makes the list useless. Those times I just wing it and often forget the one thing that is on the top of the list…the must not forget items like bread or milk. That means another trip and…well you know.
The one thing I never forget is cat food!
I love Erma B. She was so funny. And as far as you ever forgetting cat food, Teddy, and of course he’d make Jack do it too, would picket your bedroom and maybe even toss a few fur balls to make a point. I mean, really.
You’re so funny Patricia. You and Erma would have been fast friends. Love how ya write…am never disappointed. 🙂
I think I hit the jackpot once, the rest, well, even once not even the bread just choc.
There is always something chocolate in my cart…Oreo cookies for sure!
Lol, yes, mines dairy milk
One of us had a Costco card and shopped there alone. When we moved almost five years ago, we found someone had kept buying large bottles of hand soap. We had about ten gallons of it!!!!! Right now, I could tell you where four gallons are stored in this house.
How funny. Reminds me of when we were cleaning out my father’s house after he died. He had nine tubs of margarine in his refrigerator!
That is amusing.
When he died, my dad had two refrigerators and three freezers, all stocked and running. One freezer was full of shelled pecans from his farm. My maternal grandmother was more frugal. She had tons of emery boards stashed all over the house. I remember clearly that she had only ten fingernails.
He may have known my mother. 🙂
Your post rings so true to my life as well! I have to really watch myself with the coupon apps so I don’t end up buying something just because I have a coupon.
I have resisted coupon apps because that would just add another temptation to buy more stuff.
Most of the time we follow our list and if it’s not on the list then it doesn’t get put into the basket. Then there are times you get all the things on your list and keep on shopping.
I hear you about glasses. Not only would the list be unreadable, I’d probably have a hard time finding anything. I’m pretty blind without my glasses.
Adorable kitty and I’m glad you never forget the kitty food. There would be dire consequences if you did forget.
Have a fabulous day and week. ♥
I have 20/20 distance vision but up close is a different story…all I see is a blur. I need to be more disciplined when I am pushing a grocery cart.
I can relate to this. I never forget my glasses because I wear them all day but my list, well…
I never forget my catkid’s food! 🙂
I only need glasses to read and other stuff that is close work like the computer and needlework. As for the catkids, it seems they are always on my mind.
I also do that. I don’t forget my glasses as I have an extra pair for my bag. But I do over buy stuff.
I have glasses in my shopping bag but I often forget to take it with me. I keep glasses in my purse but don’t always have it with me just ID and money in my pocket.
That would make reading difficult. 🤓
My thoughts exactly! And of course I never forget my furbabies😀
The really important things are not forgotten.😺
