“I don’t wait for moods. You accomplish nothing if you do that.
Your mind must know it has to get down to work.”
Pearl S Buck

I can’t say I follow the advice of this quote! I have been waiting to be in the mood to paint the doors in my apartment and to touch up the paint in the kitchen for weeks and to clean the refrigerator and to do a good cleaning of the floors and rugs and to make a slipcover for the ottoman and to declutter the closets and armoirs and get stuff together for a Goodwill run and to…well, you get the idea.
My mind knows it has work to do but it isn’t pushy. It lets my moods do what they want like read and do puzzles and take walks and daydream. Oh, for sure, necessary things like laundry, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms cleaned, dishes, etc, get done. I guess my mind has just decided retirement means it doesn’t have to get to work and do things it doesn’t find easy or fun.
It seems my mind has taken retirement seriously,
definitely more so than it ever took to the work thing.
I’m happy.
😊
I am so happy for you ! :).
Awww, thanks, Debbie.
Awww, so that is what retirement is like – I think I could get used to that!
There was no getting used to it for me…I took to it the minute I left work for the last time!
I used to have the cleanest house anywhere. It drove me crazy if anything was out of place. I let that go and I’m far happier now. It’s all good.
I linked this post to Awww Mondays as always.
Have a fabulous day and week. ♥
I have always followed my mother’s advice about housework…”it only needs to be clean enough to be healthy and really nobody eats off the floor.”
I used to make neurotic lists that, if not completed, would send me into a tailspin, like Teddy and Jack, when they get a little bored. Now I’ve learned to, do what’s necessary and those seasonal chores you mentioned will get done one at a time, one day at a time.
I’m certain you worked hard your whole life, so it’s really, truly okay to dream your day away. Loved the idea of it…dreaming while awake. Gonna try that.
Love Monday Musings. Proves once again, you’re a muse, Patricia 🙂
Well, I worked a long time but not all that hard most of the time.😼 As far as daydreaming…you never do it?! I can’t imagine life without daydreams.
I’m always writing in my head. That’s a form of daydreaming I guess. I’m always vigilant these days due to my hearing loss. Have to keep sharp. But I do mediate every day so there is a fine place to dream. 🙂
You know, projects and chores will get done in due time. Relax and do the things you enjoy the most.
I agree. If you do one of those daily, then by the end of the week…presto…all done, all while you did what you loved. Funny how that happens.
Yep, it works for me and I don’t get the feeling of being overwhelmed.
Yes. It’s almost like a sleight of hand. You kinda fool yourself yet show up without a gun to your head.
The necessary things get done but some of the big things may never get done unless I hire someone. Can’t say I worry about stuff…it’s not like I will get fired if I don’t do it.😼
Stay happy and relaxed. Enjoy your retirement.
I am enjoying it and sometimes revel in it. 😸
Lovely 😊
