While reading this morning’s newspaper…
yes, I still get a real paper newspaper…
I had my mind boggled.

There was a story about two people who were walking down a busy street by a city park at 3:30 in the afternoon. A car driven by a woman with two men in it stopped and a man with a gun got out of the car and forced the two people to give him their phone. The man got back in the car and they drove away. There were witnesses who called 911 and comforted the two people who were robbed until the sheriff’s deputy got there. The deputy took the witnesses and victim’s statements then took the victims home.
I know this kind of stuff happens all the time and it is shocking to think people are robbed at gunpoint at any time. Somehow it is more shocking when it is on a busy street in broad daylight. Now here is the mind-boggling part,
The people who were robbed at gunpoint were two girls, 11 and 12 years old!
The thieves are still at large.
Probably feeling big and brave and smart.
Obviously, they are small and cowardly and stupid.
Wow, two kids. I’m speechless. That’s what they get though for not carrying books instead. I’m sorry. Kids on their phones, crossing busy streets, not observing traffic, irk me quite a bit. I’m not saying they should have been robbed, but the universe certainly sent them, and their parents, a message. My two cents. Great story Patricia.
A friend of mine wondered if maybe it was a gang intiation that the guy was part of. Whatever was the reason it was dumb.
That’s an interesting theory. Hmm.
I spend my working life working with thieves, murderers and robbers. I’m not surprised by much that those that figure the world owns them whatever they want just for the taking. It’s not their fault either. They are not the masters of their lives. They blame others for their shortcomings.
Have a fabulous day, Patricia. ♥
Where do you work that you meet these less than honorable types? I was surprised when I read the article…why would someone pull a gun on kids for a phone?!
I’m retired. I was a cop for 25 years.
Bet you have stories to tell…
I know what you mean. Our world is topsy-turvey getting nuttier by the minute sigh
Karma, please!
We can hope.
The K word sure sums it up alright.
Thanks!
What a story!
A sad but true one. I hope the girls are ok after their scary encounter with the ugliness of some people.
Hope they turn to Jane Austen or even Nancy Drew, for advice. 🙂
In India, we don’t feel them as news. Robbing, rapes, murder are a routine 🙂
I’m sorry.😿
I’m sorry too. Sigh
It’s ok…when things reach the extreme level, they just become funny 🙂
That’s a healthy take. I laugh at everything, it has saved me my whole life.
Very sad. What are we doing here?
It is very sad and scary. I have no idea why some people think the way they do and do the things they do.
They probably don’t think of anything and anyone else but themselves.
