Monday musings..

The only way to get started
is to quit talking and begin doing.
Walt Disney

Good advice Mr Disney. However, most of the time I have no one to talk to, so I read. So far this year I have read 22 books. Obviously, I don’t read heavy intellectual books. I just read fiction and some memoirs and biographies. The fiction is usually thriller, psychological drama, detective stories, some sci-fi/fantasy and historical fiction. I like gritty fast paced stories that are not too easy to figure out. I love books with surprise endings especially ones that make me wonder what?!

I have several projects on my to-do list. And I plan to do them. Every night I tell myself tomorrow I will do this or that project. When I wake up and tomorrow is now today, I begin. I read the paper, do my puzzles, have something to eat, shower and get dressed, talk to the cats, take a walk, check my email, read blogs and sometimes comment. Then there are those bothersome little housekeeping chores that have to be done…vacuuming, dusting, dishes, bathrooms, laundry. Of course, those things get done I’m not a slob!

It’s just the project stuff I have a problem with. Like the closets and drawers. No one sees inside the closets and drawers. Just me. Sometimes I think about the people who will come in to clear everything out when I die. What will they think? Then I get real. I will be dead! What do I care what they think!

Well, I have written this post and I have thought about which project to do.
But first, I am going to begin reading a new book .

    1. I gave almost all of my books to our library here in the condo community where I live. All the books have been donated and there are a lot of books with varied interests so there is something for everyone.

  1. I too am a reader. Spent all of yesterday curled up in my favorite chair happy as a clam, well…one who reads that is. I also have what I call monk’s work…Swiffing, loading the dish washer, sending my laundry out. I HATE SEPARATING THOSE WHITES. I could be reading after all. I too love the cat in her Foster Grants. Does Teddy and Jack read too? Cat in the Hat? Pete the Cat…Rocking in my School Shoes? A favorite of mine. 🙂

    1. That’s what I did most of yesterday. I did take a walk and watched an episode of a new series on Netflix. Teddy loves it when I read. He curls up on the ottoman by my feet or lays on my legs. If I am on the sofa, like now, he curls up snug at my side. Jack will check in now and then for a scratch but he is a cat who likes some distance most of the time.

  2. You have a very wise attitude, Patricia. I’m going to copy you, if I may. Instead of reading a book, I will finish reading all the wonderful posts that came in overnight. When I hear my husband’s stomach rumble from the next room, I’ll get up and put dinner on the table.

    1. I say do what makes you happy. The stuff that is important will get done…like dinner on the table for a hungry hubby.

  3. Awww on that wise kitty. So cute. I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

You and I like the same kinds of books. Nothing better than the smell of a good book.

Have a fabulous day and week, Patricia. Scritches to the kitties. ♥

    1. Thank you for doing the link! So thoughtful of you. I agree about the smell of “real” books but this year I have read books from the library on my tablet. The library has weird hours now and limits how many people can be inside. We do have a library of donated books here in the building where I live, of which I am the “librarian”. There are some good books and I do sometimes get a book from there.

      1. Everything is so different. I get my books from Literary Guild and when hubby and I have read them we pass them on to our friends. They travel so well that way. 🙂
