If someone took a look at my usual daily routine they wouldn’t think I am a success, but I think I am. My days now are quiet, and for the most part doing only what I want to do. I am retired and that is part of my success. I worked full-time for 50 years and some of those years I also worked part-time. I am by no means wealthy, but I can pay the monthly bills. I may not have everything I want, but I do have everything I need.

The friendships I have are a big part of my success. I have wonderful friends that I love and respect. There are those that I know I can call if I need anything, and they will do whatever they can to help. Truthfully, there have been times that I would have given up the fight without them. And of course, there is family. The family I have left live in a different state and I haven’t seen them in quite a while. But, there is a bond that cannot be broken and I treasure my family. Friends and family are blessings. Precious gifts from God.

I am happy and content.
That is success to me.

    1. Being at peace is a success. With all the stress and pressures in today’s life, it takes a bit of work to find peace and success and maintain them.

  2. Beautiful post, Patricia. Success isn’t a one size fits all. Different people view success differently. I think that as long as I’m content with my life and with the blessings I’ve been given, that’s success.

  3. Success has different definitions for different people. I would say that as long as we’re happy and we can pay the bills, we’re sucessful.

  5. I so love this Patricia, the simplicity of it from JM’s quote to your lofty perspective. I too feel I always have what I need even if to the outside world doesn’t appear very lavish. Less is more, peace my goal above anything in life, a lesson it took years to learn.

    1. Peace is important. Without it, life is lived just spinning wheels and getting nowhere near where we are meant to be. I think that is a lesson that is not an easy one to learn because we are taught to be self-sufficient and in control at any cost. I think your life is lavish in that you freely and generously give of yourself to the people in your path. A rare gift.

  8. That’s wonderful and that is my idea of success too. We’re much better off now that we’re both retired.

    1. I know some people who thought they would not like being retired, but now that they are, they wonder why they thought they wouldn’t like it. I think they thought they would be bored and feel useless. Life has a way of surprising us.🐱
