Week 26…Someone you got to meet.
Except for a couple of the guys in the band, Hootie and the Blowfish
I don’t think I have met anyone that you would know or recognize.
But I am thankful for the friends I have and
I am thankful to have met them.
Week 27…Favorite spot in your city.
Other than the walls I live within I can’t say I have a favorite spot.
There is a small park a block away where I like to sit sometimes
andI am thankful for the shade and quiet I find there.
Week 28…Your past.
I guess you could say I have a “checkered” past.
I am thankful it is past and I don’t live there anymore.
It wasn’t all bad…a lot of it was very good
and I am thankful for the lessons I learned
and for the life I have now.
Week 29…Your favorite memory.
I was thinking about this last night and got to laughing so hard
I almost wet my pants!
There are two stories that involve my parents,
There is no way I can write about those times because I don’t have
the skill to put the stories into written words.
But I can tell you I am thankful for two very serious people
who were my very funny parents.
Week 30…Your current age.
Well, I am old.
Except for a couple of bothersome things
that I will die with but not of I am healthy
and I am so very thankful for this blessing.
I have had little formal education.
My education has been from life experience,
on the job training and my love of reading.
Books have taught me many things and taken me many places.
I am so very grateful to my elementary school teachers
who gave me what I would need in life when they taught me to read.
When I was young I read whatever caught my eye.
Sometimes I would go to the library and just randomly pick books.
Some I didn’t like, some I didn’t understand much of the content.
Most I liked and learned from.
Some I fell in love with.
These days I read less to learn and more for pure pleasure,
but still I learn.
I have been a real slacker with my posting of the 52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge
Not because I am not grateful but because
I tend to put things off. It’s called procrastination.
But today I am going to catch up!
Week 18 The Weather
I am grateful for the diversity of the weather.
It changes from season to season and sometimes from day to day.
Sometimes it rains on my parade but that’s ok…I have an umbrella.
Week 19 Health
I am basically a pretty healthy person.
I do have a couple of challenges that sometimes flare,
but they are not life-threatening.they just get in the way sometimes.
I am grateful for the good days and for the bad that keep me humble.
Week 20 A Friend
I have a friend, Lucy.
I really have a hard time expressing all she means to me.
She is a treasure in my heart who I love beyond words
She is my friend and sister in faith.
I thank God daily for her friendship and love.
Week 21 Things You Like About Summer
Summer isn’t my favorite time of the year, but it is a beautiful time.
I am grateful for the longer daylight hours, the blooming flowers,
the fresh fruit and vegetables and slower pace of life.
Week 22 Something You Use Every Day
I am grateful for my brain.
I use it every day and it never really fails me.
It works just like it is supposed to keeping all systems in order and working.
Sometimes there is a glitch but it rights itself quickly.
Week 23 Favorite Physical Trait
I don’t think I have a favorite physical trait.
If pushed to pick something I guess it would be my skin.
It is a bit sensitive but with few wrinkles and rarely a blemish.
Yeah, I am grateful that my skin looks younger than my years.
Something I take for granted every day is that I can read.
Not that I can see to read though that is a great blessing
but that I know how to read.
I could read a bit before I went to school and was very excited to learn more.
I loved the words and how they went together to make sentences and paragraphs.
To read stories and be transported to other places or learn about new things,
to read about people and how they lived, it was all fascinating.
The library was and still is one of my favorite places,
Today, I take this wondrous gift for granted.
If I have any fear for tomorrow it is that as I grow old
I may lose the ability to read.
