chairThis is my gramma’s rocker.
It was given to her by my grandfather when she was pregnant with my mother.
Gramma rocked her children and her grandchildren in this chair.
When she died it was given to my mother who rocked her grandchildren in it.
When my mother died the chair became mine.
I have rocked all my catkids in it.
This year the chair is 99 years old.
It will always be “Gramma’s rocker”.

Here are some questions that are a puzzlement to me.

dog-316598_640

  • What is the reason for the extra a in aardvark
  • When do we get to know all the answers?
  • Where does my mind wander to when I don’t know it is wandering?
  • Why is it so easy to go to sleep after you turn off the alarm clock?
  • Who decides what is normal?
  • How do the cats know I am finally asleep before they start wrestling on the bed?

If you have the answers I would be most grateful if you would share.

Hi my Peoples.

Today is my turn to post the A to Z Challenge.
Today’s letter isp4pAs in Patricia.
That’s my mama’s name.

I am going to tell you something about Mama that will surprise you.
It surprised me that’s for sure.
She is pretty easy going for a people.
She rarely gets mad and when she does it’s not too bad and doesn’t last long.
But she has a hidden side.
Yes, she does.
So hidden I had no clue about it.

She and her friend David went to the sport’s store to buy
equipment for the Fitness Center here where we live.
You know stuff like weights and a big ball and benches.

Well, while they were there Mama saw this
bagIt’s a punching bag!
She loved it and she wants one.
David told they couldn’t get one for the Fitness Center.
Now she is trying to figure out where she can put one in the apartment.
Who knew?!

A to Z Challenge 2015 · fear

O=”o”phobias…

A to Z Challenge
letter today is
o4pThere are a lot of phobias and some of them start with O.
Here are some of them:

  • Osmophobia…fear of smells or odors
  • Onomatophobia…fear of hearing a certain word or of names
  • Optophobia…fear of opening one’s eyes
  • Ophthalmophobia…fear of being stared at

I can sort of understand those phobias.

Then there is this one. I don’t understand what it means

  • Orthophobia…fear of property

This one is funny to me, but I am sure not funny to someone who has it:

Omphalophobia…fear of belly buttons

This one is kind of a mystery to me

Ouranophobia…fear of heaven

Some phobias are amusing to those of us that don’t suffer from them.
I am not making fun of anyone with a phobia.
I have had to deal with a phobia so I know how awful it can be.

file4781300045861 I was embarrassed to talk about my phobia and when I did people often laughed
It became so bad  I was almost paralyzed by it.
I finally got some professional help and with time and hard work
I have, for the most part, overcome it.
I understand the whys and whats of my phobia, but that doesn’t make it any easier.
Sometimes it rears its ugly phobia head and my heart pounds,
I break out in a cold clammy  sweat, and just want to disappear.
Having a phobia is no laughing matter.
If you are experiencing an irrational fear of something
please talk to a friend or family member you trust.
If you are embarrassed or ashamed, don’t be, you are not alone.
Like with any challenge, the first step is the hardest.
Take a deep breath and take that step.
Life is bigger and better than any phobia.
