Have you ever noticed how sometimes the most irritating and aggravating things can end up being good things? This week has been one of those weeks filled with frustration. It started on Monday and has continued until today and will probably continue for awhile. As crazy as it sounds the bother of the week has made me see how easy and pleasant my life is and I am grateful. It also made me aware that my temper needs some discipline and patience doesn’t happen without thought. Being reminded of these things was good, not fun but good.
This week was not what I like but just what I needed.
Sometimes we need a little trouble to keep us humble.
So, I celebrate all the small things I take for granted.
It has been a quiet week but not without things getting done.
Handyman was here and started work on the pantry.
I will finish painting it today or tomorrow and then
Handyman will come back to install the shelves.
The other happening was the delivery of the new kitchen cabinets!
The delivery guys were the cutest fellas.
Don’t have an installation date yet but should know Monday.
Once the old cabinets are torn out and the new put in
then I will have to get to the finish work;
sanding, priming and painting the walls.
Can’t say I am looking forward to that part of the project
but I am looking forward to my new kitchen.
So, I celebrate
having Handyman do his thing,
having the cabinets delivered and
the cute delivery guys.
Today I am celebrating the end of a rough week or so. Nothing terrible happened just a little flare of a bothersome chronic health issue. A bit of a challenge but not insurmountable. I am feeling almost normal…whatever that is…and will be back to regular posting of my nonsense, responding to comments and reading your blogs in the next few days. It may take awhile to catch up because I am still a tad tired but I am ready for action!
It amazes me how we are wonderfully made. Even when things are not to our liking and we think we are less than we should or want to be the truth is life is a gift. Sometimes the wrapping gets a little ragged but the gift is still a miracle.
I am celebrating the soft rain we had yesterday.
No thunder or wind with it. Just raindrops falling quietly.
Last week there was a ferocious storm which was exciting to watch
but came down too hard and fast and then drained away without giving
the earth a good soak so the flowers and grass did not benefit much.
I am also celebrating the end of the A to Z Challenge.
It really is a good exercise but does take some discipline.
It would be easier if I did the posts ahead of time but I don’t.
Every year I tell myself I will be more prepared so that
April won’t seem so rushed and every year I
wonder why I didn’t take my own good advice.
I am celebrating my new balcony railing has been installed! It has not been an easy job. The lower floors weren’t too bad but the upper floors took some muscle and care. Not easy to remove the old and lower it to the ground then hoist the new and install it. The crew was super nice and polite and did a great job. They worked fast and cleaned up after themselves.
The lower floors weren’t too bad but the upper floors took some muscle and care. Not easy to remove the old and lower it to the ground then hoist the new and install it. I live on the top floor and the crane/hoist only worked to the floor below me. The new railings would not fit in the elevator so they figured out how to bring them through an apartment below my floor and lift it over the open atrium railing. It was quite fascinating to watch.
While the guys were doing the work I took a book downstairs and read in the lobby. Taking the old railing out and installing the new was noisy! When they were done I came back upstairs and walked into the apartment and looked out the glass door and it was breath-taking. The improvement of the look and view is amazing. I feel like I am living in a treehouse!
I did get some before pictures but don’t have after(s) yet. I want to show off my balcony but it will have to wait a few days. I think this is called a teaser. 😉
Today I am celebrating that I have made some decisions.
Nothing really big but just stuff I have been putting off.
I am going to finally get new kitchen cabinets.
I have been thinking about this since I moved here 21 years ago!
I decided on new curtains for the living room and bought them.
They aren’t up yet because I also decided to get new curtain rods
and the handyman hasn’t been back to install them.
So, there you go, two decisions made.
Only about half a gazillion to go.
Now, Friendly Fill-Ins, Week 47
The first thing I think about in the morning is is it already time to get up and what my plans are for the day?
2. The last thing I think about before sleep is I talk to the cats say my prayers.
3. I am looking forward to getting new kitchen cabinets and painting the kitchen.
4. I am so pleased that I am getting a few things done every day that I have been putting off. I am lazy and when I don’t have a definite “due date” to get something done it doesn’t get done.
