Ten Things of Thankful

pallas-cat-275930_640

  1. I am blessed by the people around me.  All I have to do is call or knock on a door and I am welcomed.
  2. I was feeling kind of down and a friend gave me a “talking to”.  He said just what I needed to hear. I left feeling like I have it all together and can do anything.
  3. I am participating in The Kindness Challenge and last week was week one. When I wrote my reflection for the week on Self-Love it was cathartic. Sort of wrote itself. Hopefully, those who read it will be encouraged and see it for what it is, an honest assessment of self-love and living a life of discovery.
  4. A long time ago I learned that sometimes you know Who talks to me through my dreams and I think these dreams are part of a conversation He wants to have with me. I think this happens when I just don’t get the message through regular means. There have been such dreams lately. I see this as a gift but still, I wonder what’s up?
  5. I have the greatest dentist and hygienist. Saw them last week. The whole staff is wonderful.  Of course, I got the talk about sodas and how bad they are for teeth…again. I am not going to stop drinking sodas. Guess I will have start saving my money for dental implants.
  6. It is the middle of May and I have not had my A/C on yet.  So happy! I know the day is coming when it will be turned on and stay on until September. Very happy to have A/C but it is a love/hate thing.
  7. A young woman I know lost her job due to the place closing. She was very upset because she has a brain disorder caused by an illness she had years ago and finds it difficult to learn and remember things. Took her months to get a job when she moved here. Well, her boss from the closed place, got her job where he is now working. Hallelujah!
  8. I washed windows the other day. Not a big deal I only have two windows and a sliding glass door, but I put it off for quite awhile due to laziness. It is lovely looking out and seeing things as they are without streaks, dust, and nose/paw prints.
  9. Aren’t naps wonderful? Yeah, they are!
  10. Finding the world of blogging has been a blessing filled with surprises; to have a place to express my ditzy self and be accepted as I am is truly humbling, to read the blogs of some awesome folks, and form friendships with some of these folks is beyond imagining. Thanks,y’all!

TToT, third week of April…

Ten Things of Thankful

hiyall

  1. My new balcony railing! I knew I had a good view before but now I know that it is truly breath-taking. I feel like I am living in a treehouse. I know I have said this before but I am still amazed by it.
  2. I went to Subway and had a Black Forest ham sandwich.  After six weeks of no meat just veggies and fish, it was wonderful to chow down on that sammich.
  3. The clerk at the drugstore who was so helpful. I had forgotten my glasses and he helped me find what I was looking for. He was very patient with a great sense of humor.
  4. Bought some flowers to fill in pots that have perennials in them. Verbena, Bocopa, and Cosmos. All so colorful.
  5. Painted the last of the flower pots…another check on the to-do list. Now just need to get some plants to put in them and my gardening will be done…for now.
  6. We had some sweet soft rain. The perfect kind of rain for gardens. It was beautiful as I watched it moving over the city to where I live.
  7. Got my fans out and cleaned them up. So far I haven’t had the A/C on but I know the day is coming and until it does the fans are great for keeping the apartment comfortable.
  8. Netflix is great. I can watch movies at home and pause them if I want or go back and watch a scene again. It’s not expensive and I see more movies than if I had to go to the theater to see them and probably see some I wouldn’t normally go see.
  9. My blood pressure is lower than it has been in several years. Wonder if the veggie diet during Lent had anything to do with it?
  10. Watching Teddy play with his new toy. It’s a mouse with treats in it. He has to bat it around for the treats to come out. He is so funny trying to get those treats!

So that’s it for this week.
Blessings all around!

TToT week 4/14…

Ten Things of Thankful

  1. Another lunch with friends I haven’t seen in awhile! It was fun to catch up and share the happenings of life.
  2. I got new curtains for my bedroom. Got the old ones down just fine but had to call for help to get the rod and new curtains back in place. Never had this problem before, bummer. But a friend came to my rescue. The curtains are up and we had a nice visit.
  3. We have had a lot of windy weather lately but there was one day when there was no wind so I could spray paint some containers on my balcony. I love to spray paint!
  4. A couple more things crossed off the to-do list and no new things added…for now.
  5. Finalized kitchen cabinet design and measurements. Once all ordered the work should start late May early June. Exciting!
  6. I had a couple of bad mood days.  I am most thankful that no one was around to witness my anger.
  7. I have been reading a lot which is wonderful.  But sorry blog world, you are in second place just now. Sometimes I have to step away from the computer to get my “nice” back. But I do love reading about what is happening to my cyber friends and reading the stories and seeing the photos they share.
  8. Looking forward to getting some flowers planted. Flowers doing their thing on my balcony make me wonder at the beauty we are given to enjoy.
  9. Today is my big brudder’s birthday! I will be forever grateful for having such a wonderful brother.
  10. I get my new balcony this week…if it doesn’t rain and if it isn’t too windy. It is going to look so awesome!

So, that’s it for this week.
Even with a couple of not so nice days because of my attitude
it has been a week of blessings and beauty.

TToT this week…

Ten Things of Thankful

kittyprayer

  1. Three bookcases were donated to the library downstairs. Books are donated all the time and even with the occasional recycling, we have had more books than cases so the three added are a blessing.
  2. Adding the new bookcases to the library means the chair and ottoman have to go (but there is a sofa in there) and I know someone moving into their new home soon and they can use them.
  3. Sad to see the chair and ottoman go but someone donated four padded folding chairs we can use in the library. Interesting how needs are met so readily.
  4. Thankful for helpful neighbors who always come through when they are needed.
  5. A neighbor who uses a walker and sometimes a wheelchair fell getting out of the elevator. There was a workman in the lobby and saw her fall, called 911 and stayed with her until EMS got here. Once again a need is met! She is in rehab for six weeks and is doing well.
  6. I am thankful I found this blog world to be a part of and for the sweet and encouraging comments I receive about my posts. They make me happy.
  7. I am in good health and always have energy to do what I want or need to do.
  8. Catkids that amuse me, sometimes annoy me, and always are a source of happiness, company, and comfort.
  9. April warmth and sunshine and showers.
  10. Life is not always easy or fun but there is always joy.

Life is good!

TToT, March 26…

Ten Things of Thankful

hallelujah_cat.jpg

  1. I am thankful that I have lived another year and look forward to the rest of the time I have here, however long that may be.
  2. For the cards and flowers friends sent celebrating my day.
  3. The friend who treated me to dinner and the friend who took me out to lunch. I had a great time with both of them. Such a blessing to have them in my life.
  4. A call from my friend who lives in West Africa wishing me a happy birthday.
  5. Spending time talking with a neighbor while sitting outside in the beautiful weather.
  6. My friend had her baby, a healthy baby boy. Both are doing well.
  7. Got my taxes done and blessed to have a refund coming my way.
  8. I am thankful for Pandora. I can listen to continuous music without the interruptions of disc jockey’s talking and bothersome advertising. I also like that they have lots of choices of types of music.
  9. I am thankful that my niece survived a usually fatal illness and that she no longer needs dialysis and is back at work.
  10. I am so very thankful that my wants are few and what needs I may have are always met often in remarkable ways. There is always enough to see me through whatever the circumstances may be.

It has been an awesome week!

TToT list…

Ten Things of Thankful

cat-pexels-photo-105295

  1. Had dinner with a friend I used to work with. Was so good to see her and catch up. She treated me to dinner which was a sweet surprise and quite unexpected.
  2. The handyman was here and took care of some of what is on my list for him. Nice to have a level armoire and curtain rod brackets that aren’t falling off the wall.
  3. The first part of the week was cold and wet. I stayed warm and dry inside with the cats. It is a blessing not to have to go out in bad weather.
  4. Spring is here!
  5. Watched the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. There was some rain but the folks in the parade didn’t let it dampen their spirits. It was colorful and fun to see passing by my apartment.
  6. Someone tried to log into my Google account but Google caught it and no harm done.
  7. A migraine threatened but a couple of aspirin took care of it. It has been years since I had a migraine…definitely a blessing!
  8. Watched a nice father-son-bonding movie, The Confirmation. It is an independent film worth watching. The acting was good and the story of a young boy spending the weekend with his alcoholic father while his mother and his step-father are away was lovely, funny, sad, uplifting. Just a good movie.
  9. Since my cataract surgery, I only need glasses for near sight. I wear “cheater” glasses for reading and crafts and the computer. I get the glasses at the drug store or dollar store so they never cost more than $10.00 and often less. It is such fun to have all these different glasses!
  10. I have been getting eight hours of sleep most nights. Even if I go to bed really late I get enough sleep because I can sleep until late. A wonderful benefit of retirement, I feel so rested. And spoiled!

It has been a good week.
I am blessed abundantly.
