A to Z Challenge 2015 · just thoughts · water

The A to Z Challenge
letter today is
w4pI love hot soapy water.

Bubble baths are the best.
Whatever may be bothering me
be it physical, mental, or emotional
a hot bubble bath makes everything better.

Hot showers are good, too.

Not quite the same as a bubble bath,
but a great quick fix for a tired achy body.

I even like to wash dishes.

It is kind of relaxing to wash dishes
and it’s a good time to just ponder life.
I will admit that I am very glad that I have
a dishwasher so doing dishes by hand
never becomes a daily chore.

Just give me some hot water and bubbles and I am happy.

My road…

In Other Words

This week’s prompt for
In Other Words
“Though the road’s been rocky, it sure feels good to be me.”
Bob Marley

In my youth, my road was quite rocky sometimes filled with boulders.
No one to blame, I chose the road.
Then when a bit older the road wasn’t smooth, but there was more
gravel than boulders along the way.
There was a time when the road seemed to be covered with gooey tar.
I just kept getting bogged down and stuck in the muck.
Slowly things got smoother and mostly easy travelling.

SONY DSCThe road has never been a straightaway, there have been a lot of twists and turns,
but nowadays it is more winding and filled with gentle curves.
There is the occasional roadblock or detour but for the most part
the road is clear with just some pebbles now and then.
Like Bob Marley, I am happy being me.

A to Z Challenge 2015 · punching bag

P=punching bag

Hi my Peoples.

Today is my turn to post the A to Z Challenge.
Today’s letter isp4pAs in Patricia.
That’s my mama’s name.

I am going to tell you something about Mama that will surprise you.
It surprised me that’s for sure.
She is pretty easy going for a people.
She rarely gets mad and when she does it’s not too bad and doesn’t last long.
But she has a hidden side.
Yes, she does.
So hidden I had no clue about it.

She and her friend David went to the sport’s store to buy
equipment for the Fitness Center here where we live.
You know stuff like weights and a big ball and benches.

Well, while they were there Mama saw this
bagIt’s a punching bag!
She loved it and she wants one.
David told they couldn’t get one for the Fitness Center.
Now she is trying to figure out where she can put one in the apartment.
Who knew?!

A to Z Challenge 2015 · news · rant

N=news rant…

A to Z Challenge
letter today is

I have been thinking about the news and it has led to this rant.

I haven’t had a TV in years so I don’t get any of that news. I don’t like listening to talk on the radio so no news there for me. I do get the local newspaper but not especially for the news. I get the newspaper for the comics, puzzles, ads, obits and social info.

So far, I have gotten along quite nicely not knowing in detail what’s going on in the world. I have a neighbor who is concerned about my lack of news interest. He watches TV news all the time, listens to news radio when in the car and gets several newspapers every day. I am concerned that he will lose his mind or have a stroke from news overload.

It’s not like I live in a cave or with blinders on. I am not oblivious to what is going on around me. I do read headlines and listen to others talk about what’s happening in the world. I am aware of politics, wars, the economy, taxes, health issues, gangs, environment and ecology concerns, celebrities and their messes, and the list goes on. I just prefer to put those things lower on my news meter.

Really, there is good news out there but you have to search for it. Maybe if the good news was the lead story, headlines, page one news, then the bad news wouldn’t take over our thinking and there would be less ugly news events happening to report. I know there will be those who read this who will be appalled and think me stupid to be so out of tune with the news. But then I am often appalled at what is considered news-worthy and that it gets so much attention. End of rant.

Talents and gifts…

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge
week 14 prompt
A Talent You Have

A talent I have is doing needlework.
I can sew, embroider, cross-stitch and crewel, knit, and crochet.
I learned to do all these as a child.
I learned to sew in school home-ec classes.
The rest I was taught by my grammas.

My favorite is crochet.
I enjoy crocheting, it is relaxing and meditative.
Whenever I make a gift I pray as I crochet
for the person who will receive it.

I am grateful for my grammas and all they taught me.
Crocheting being just a small part of the knowledge they shared.
