Truth is best…

In Other Words…what I say

“Wanting to be liked can get in the way of truth.”
Delia Ephron

shield-492996_640

We all want to be liked for sure
and sometimes truth gets lost
when we are less than pure.
One day we will be caught
if we insist on the lie
and all will be for naught.
If we stray from where we started
in the land of reality and truth
our return will be as broken-hearted.
So, leave the lies behind you
with the empty wanting
and know friendship true.

Walking in the fog…

Today on my walk there wasn’t any sun but it was still wonderful.
Today was a day of cool misty fog.
I love walking in the fog.

misty-203155_640

As is my habit while walking I was letting my mind wander.
Once again it lit upon the In Other Words prompt,

An exaggeration is a truth that has lost its temper.
Kahlil Gibran

It’s a lovely quote but I don’t agree.
I think an exaggeration is a truth that has lost its way
and stumbled into the world of lies.
Maybe exaggeration isn’t an all out lie
but it isn’t an all out truth either.

I do my share of exaggerating and fudging the truth to be sure
so I know of what I write.
I try hard to stick to just the facts as boring as they may be.
Yet, there are those times that boring is…well boring
and I perhaps embellish the telling a bit.
Bet you do too.
If you say you never do then I am pretty sure you are …
exaggerating.
