Thursday thoughts…

If you spend too much time thinking about a thing,
you will never get it done.
Bruce Lee

This quote is right on, and I have proved it many times. The latest is the bathroom. I had some work done by my handyman extraordinaire a few weeks ago, and it is ready for me to paint.

Every morning when I get up, I say today is the day to paint. Then I read the paper, do the puzzles, have breakfast, and go for my walk. When I get home, I think about painting, and then I find something else to do.

Maybe I should call the guy that did some painting for me a couple of years ago? That sounds like a plan! I am going to think about it. Then I am going to call him!

  1. If I’m not mistaken, weren’t we here recently in another part of the house? Or did I imagine it. I’m haunted I think, by my mother who was so efficient, her picture might be in the Guinness World Records for being such a pain in the get it done, NOW…a– and well, I’ve inherited that lovely gene. I envy you actually Patricia not having it. It’s a burden having to get things immediately done. Excuse me, I think it’s time to Swiff again. 🙂

    1. I wasn’t as much of a procrastinator when I worked. Somehow being retired has made a royal procrastinator. Nothing around here gets done immediately except feeding the cats. I did paint my kitchen not long ago. I just did it without thinking about it. But…it made me realize that though I always painted my rooms myself in the past, painting is not my favorite thing to do. I don’t like the word immediately. It sounds so, I don’t know…pushy.

      1. I get it. I have a lady who once a month comes in to clean the floors since my place is like a bowling alley wood wise. I’m a first class straightener, and a steerage scrubber. We writers can’t be gifted at everything you know Patricia. 🙂

  2. Perhaps contacting the painter is the best option. If you really don’t want to do something and can get someone to do it, that is a good plan. This is said by a person who only had the painter paint two rooms with tall ceilings. I painted the rest of the house and regretted not giving the complete job to him.

  3. This is so true! When I start to think about a thing too much it becomes so much bigger than I can handle. I awfulize the problems I am going to have and then I procrastinate. When I do finally get around to doing it the job is never as awful as I made it in my mind.
